The
history of Coram, a town of some 25 thousand residents, is typical of all Long Island. Coram separated from Brookhaven
during the 19th century and has prospered throughout the 20th century, between
and after the World Wars. Its prosperity continues today with impressive values
quoted for homes and
property. The most characteristic feature of this place is its insatiable
appetite for fun and the varied and seemingly never-ending variety of
recreation and entertainment that one finds here.
Coram
Country Lanes is a good place to catch the spirit that distinguishes this town.
This fun center is great not just for bowling, but for parties, birthdays and
even commercial events. Everyone can spend quality time at this establishment
and learn to entertain and to have a good time in Coram style! Laser Kingdom is another entertainment in town
with attractive diversions. Cousins Paintball is yet another and very well
loved Park that graces the town of Coram. It is the only woods scene on Long Island and is spread over more than 80
acres. Parties and groups have the entire area to themselves by reservation in
advance.
Eating
seems to be big business in Coram with almost 30 establishments. Chinese food
and Pizzas rule the roost with adequate Delis and outlets of famous chains. El
Mariachi is an intriguing name for a restaurant in Coram and a meal or even a
take-out always works out well for those who venture to its portals. Located on
the Pine Cinema Plaza, the menu catches attention for its
ingenuity and variety. You are comforted by the announcement that eating some
popular Hispanic delicacies does not violate protocol, though most diners would
agree that some of the entrees need more respect! The restaurant strikes a
harmonious balance between the needs of people who love to eat, children and the
casual diner.
The Movie
land Cinemas is a popular theater in Coram and people generally agree that it
is well kept and that the staff is helpful. It is certainly a good choice for
those who like to keep pace with the latest developments in the film world. The
establishment has kept up with the times and invested to ensure continued
custom in the age of DVDs and the Internet.
With an
average home value in the region of $250 thousand, Coram is clearly as popular
a destination for people as it was in the 18th century when settlers first
arrived. You can choose between Colonial structures,
modern condominiums and generous ranches. Families love the utopian combination
of open spaces and urban amenities that comes as such as a special offer from
the town of Coram. The town is divided between two School Districts but Miss Mella's Footsteps to
Learning is an adequate Pre-School option right on Mount Sinai Road.
