Elmhurst began as a home
to early resident’s of Manhattan who moved east to
gain a more suburb feel of living. Today it continually is a place of
affordable rents, for people who are looking to live just outside the Manhattan. Elmhurst is a middle
working class neighborhood which has culturally diverse population. Elmhurst is home to the Queens Center shopping mall
which contains more than 75 stores.
Elmhurst primarily
consists of single and multi family homes, and a few three and four story walk
up apartment buildings.
General rent in this
area range of studios from $700-900, one-bedrooms from $800-$1100, two-bedrooms
from $1000-$1300, three bedrooms from $1350-$2200.
Most transportation is done New York City Subway G, R, &
Vtrains. These trains can be caught at the following stations, Woodhaven
Boulevard/Queens Mall, and Grand Avenue/Newtown, and should have you in
midtown in 35 minutes.
